Hi All,
I have a question about animal careers, I've decided that I want to work with animals in shelters (socializing them so that they can be adopted), but I'm not sure where to go to get information. If there's anyone who has advice on this topic, again I would be indebted for the help!

I'm really interested in doing this as well.

go to local shelters and ask if they have any voluntary work programmes, though be careful, for if you are disabled, they might refuse you outright due to health and safety issues. health and safety issues override any discrimination law, especially in the UK. also, as I have found, getting qualifications in animal handling can be a problem if disabled, such as blind etc, as you cant' ensure the health and safety of others or yourself to examination standard. sorry to be so pecimistic, but you might find an understanding shelter owner who will let you do the jobs, but when you go for qualifications, you might have problems.

Yeah I have tried to work at PetSmart, Petco, and a few places for dog grooming and care and all have told me I couldn't work there because I do not have enough vision and that could be a problem with insuring the safety of the animals.

Hi kodiak bear:
Well I'll just hope than, that's all I can do.
Thanks for keeping it real. Better to know the reality of it then to go in all starry eyed.

Hi Bella,
Well hopefully I'll run into someone who gets it.
